About the Artist

Margaret began her artistic endeavors in 1978 using oils for tole painting and evolved into painting pictures in oil in 1985.

She began seriously developing her craft after receiving a full kit of oils, brushes and a pallet from her husband who encouraged and continues to encourage her developing artwork.

Over the next 17 years Margaret tried other media, but always comes back to oils as her artistic medium of choice. Margaret draws inspiration from her travels, using photographs of nature, vistas, and city scenes as subjects for her paintings.

Over the last five years, Margaret has been painting commissioned artwork including people, sports scenes, nature scenes, and wildlife from photographs provided by clients.

A recent example can be seen in the art gallery as the rhino painting. Margaret enjoys life on her Glenwood, IA estate with her husband and scientist, Michael.

She has two grown children who live in the area and enjoys the company of many of her fellow artists in local meetings and weekly painting sessions.

Meetings and painting sessions are a venue to continue to exchange ideas and further develop her artistry. The art gallery will be posting new paintings on a regular basis.

Prices will depend on size and complexity of the work, but a typical 8 x 10 would cost approximately $100 for an original oil painting.
